Restore the Luminous is a free-to-play digital trading card game in which every card is unlocked the moment the game is installed. There are no booster packs, no gacha and no cards for sale; the only purchases planned are cosmetic. Two players duel one on one with decks of 40 to 60 cards, built from a single card pool shared by every leader, with a limit of three copies of any one card and no colour restrictions on deckbuilding. Cards are paid for with LP, a resource that comes in five colours: red, blue, green, yellow and black. LP grows and fully refreshes every turn, and its colours are set by discarding cards from your own hand, so deciding what to throw away is as much a part of the game as deciding what to play. Damage is not a life total that ticks down. It moves cards from the top of the defending player's deck into a damage zone, and a card with a Turnover ability fires that ability for free as it lands there. A player loses when their damage zone fills up. On turns 4 and 7 both leaders evolve at the same time, each drawing an extra card and unlocking the next stage of their own ability. All four leaders draw from the same card pool, but each has a different innate ability and a different set of numbers: a different opening hand size, a different number of unit slots and a different number of counter slots. The same deck therefore plays differently depending on which leader is holding it. The game includes solo matches against AI, online 1v1 matchmaking, private friend matches by room ID, and community-run round-robin and bracket tournaments.
